ABC News profiled SU student Monroe Guisbond, who is taking Professor Margaret Thompson’s Honors course, Religion and American Politics, through the Oasis Program.

Research on “Neuroimaging of Love” led by Stephanie Ortigue, assistant professor of psychology in The College of Arts and Sciences, was reported on by CBS News, ABC News, CBS Atlanta, AOL Health, Fox News, EMax Health, Top News (U.K.), iAfrica, and LiveScience.com.

Thomas V. Wolfe, senior vice president and dean of student affairs, appeared on MSNBC Live to speak about students being thoughtful in their selection of Halloween costumes.

The Bandier Program in the College of Visual and Performing Arts is featured in Billboard Magazine’s first guide to the nation’s music business schools, “Schools of Rock.” Ulf Oesterle, assistant professor in the Bandier program, is one of the featured innovative educators.

Your News Now (YNN) reported on Monday’s installation of the Rev. Tiffany Steinwert as dean of Hendricks Chapel.

The mid-October Syracuse Symposium event, “The Michael J.C. Echeruo Valedictory Symposium: 50 Years of African Literature and Scholarship in the Academy, 1960-2010,” was reported in a recent Vanguard (Nigeria) story about Echeruo, who is the William Safire Professor in Modern Letters in The College of Arts and Sciences English Department. Gregg Lambert, Dean’s Professor of the Humanities, founding director of the Syracuse University Humanities Center and director of the Mellon Central New York Humanities Corridor, is mentioned in the article.

FACULTY QUOTES

John Torrens, assistant professor of entrepreneurial practice in the Whitman School of Management, is quoted in Entrepreneur magazine’s October 26 issue in an article on small businesses using low-cost consulting fees.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is quoted in the Philadelphia Daily News on John Stewart’s “Rally to Restore Sanity.” Thompson is also quoted in the Columbus Dispatch on the Fox News Network and Ohio Republican gubernatorial candidate John Kasich, and in the Christian Science Monitor on a viral satire of President Barack Obama.

Janis McDonald, professor in the College of Law, was interviewed for the Dr. Molly Barrow Show on the Progressive Radio Network.

Mary Kiernan, instructor in the department of hospitality management in the College of Human Ecology, was quoted in the Post-Standard on hospitality being a critical part of the restaurant business.
