SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

Biofuels Digest reported on Syracuse University’s partnership with Arden-Fox to advance the use of biofuels by the U.S. armed forces as an alternative energy source.

The Post-Standard and 9WSYR reported on Chancellor Nancy Cantor’s participation in an event marking the launch of the $16 million renovation that will turn the Landmark Theatre into a performing arts center.

The Syracuse Eagle previewed this Saturday’s Salt City Urban Art & Craft Market to be held in the Case Supply building in the Near Westside neighborhood of Syracuse. The Connective Corridor and SU are mentioned in the article about the SALT District venture.

The Eagle also briefly noted groundbreaking ceremonies Oct. 5 for the 601 Tully Project next to Blodgett School in the Near Westside neighborhood. 601 Tully is envisioned as a community storefront for the arts, publishing, entrepreneurship and education.

FACULTY QUOTES

The Philadelphia Inquirer quoted Kendall Phillips, professor in the Department of Communication and Rhetorical Studies in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, on horror films and the need for the industry to continuously innovate.

ABC News quoted Anthony Rotolo, assistant professor of practice and social media strategist in the School of Information Studies, on the recent issue involving PriceChopper supermarkets and the use of social media by customers.

The Christian Science Monitor quotes Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, on the upcoming Jon Stewart-Stephen Colbert “Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear.” He is also quoted in ABC News on the TV program “Glee,” and in Voice of America on reality television.

Jeffrey Stonecash, professor of political science in the Maxwell School and College of Arts and Sciences, is quoted in the Buffalo News about donor contributions to gubernatorial candidate Andrew Cuomo.
