Flu shots for students available Oct. 21

Monday, October 18, 2010, By News Staff
Share

SU Health Services will hold another flu vaccine clinic this Thursday, Oct. 21, from 1-4 p.m. in Flanagan Gymnasium. No appointment is necessary. Students should bring their SU/ESF ID.

The vaccine being offered is an injectable formula for seasonal and
H1N1 flu. The 2010-11 vaccine will protect against H1N1 and two other
influenza viruses.

According to the World Health Organization, the H1N1 influenza virus
has moved into the post-pandemic period, meaning that the virus has
largely run its course. However, the virus is likely to continue circulating this season, and for a few years to come. Getting a vaccine remains a highly effective way to avoid getting the flu.
