SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

Your News Now (YNN) in Syracuse and Watertown reported on the Ford Motor Company “Future of Safety” tour and student networking event held at Syracuse University on Friday. Driver and passenger safety innovations, crash avoidance and driver assist systems were demonstrated. Ford representatives met with students from the L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science.

WSYR-TV and the Post-Standard reported briefly on Columbus Day events on the Syracuse University Quad by the Native American Studies Department in The College of Arts and Sciences.

CNY Central (view video clip) covered the launch of the LGBT Resource Center awareness initiative, “You are not alone,” in response to LGBTQ suicides and cyber-bully attacks. Amit Taneja, associate director of the LGBT Resource Center at SU, is quoted in the report.

FACULTY QUOTES

Grant Reeher, professor of political science in the Maxwell School, is quoted in a USA Today article about recent anti-gay remarks made by New York Republican gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino.

Amanda Nicholson, assistant professor of retail management in the Whitman School of Management, and Whitman senior Sierra Fogal are quoted in a Fortune magazine special advertising section focused on Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) programs. The title photo accompanying the piece shows the faculty adviser and members of the SU SIFE chapter working with weavers in Guatemala.

Kim Wolf Price, director of professional and career development at the College of Law, is quoted in a Daily Record (Rochester, N.Y.) story about professional attire for attorneys.

A report in Examiner.com features the wiki textbook organized by Thomas Gokey, part-time instructor in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, in response to revised textbook standards put forward by the Texas State Board of Education. The wikibook is titled “A Supplement to the Texas U.S. History Textbook.”
