Building a diverse and globally aware workforce is a top priority for employers worldwide. On Tuesday, Oct. 5, Syracuse University Career Services will host the ninth annual Diversity Business Summit from 4:30-8:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Syracuse University Hotel and Conference Center. The event brings students from underrepresented backgrounds together with world-renowned employers seeking to strengthen their workforces through diversity. The Diversity Business Summit is presented by JPMorgan Chase, with additional support from the other platinum sponsors, General Electric and Macy’s.

The Diversity Business Summit is composed of three parts: a reverse career fair, dinner and dessert networking session. Throughout the evening, students will have numerous opportunities to network with employers and discuss global trends and diversity issues affecting the workplace.

Among the participating employers are Altria, Amica Mutual Insurance Co., City Year, Deloitte, Ernst & Young LLP, General Electric, JPMorgan Chase, M&T Bank Corp., Macy’s, PepsiCo Frito Lay, Sponsors for Educational Opportunity and The TJX Companies.

For students, this event is a chance to build networking contacts.

“Networking is the key to success in today’s job market,” says Jennifer Walters, associate director of Career Services. “Being able to meet representatives from these companies in such a relaxed environment is a unique and valuable opportunity for our students.”

During the dinner component of Diversity Business Summit, students and employers will engage in meaningful discussion about issues impacting the global workplace. To register, students should visit OrangeLink  at https://syr-csm.symplicity.com/students.

For more information about the Diversity Business Summit, contact Walters at 443-3616, or jewalt02@syr.edu.
