SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

Immigration information from SU’s Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) is featured in the Houston Chronicle and the Dallas Morning News in articles on the Department of Homeland Security reviewing thousands of pending immigration cases and moving to dismiss those filed against suspected illegal immigrants who have no serious criminal records. TRAC data was also featured in KALW News in San Francisco and in the Washington Independent in stories about backlogged immigration court cases.

Research by Radhakrishna Sureshkumar, professor and chair of biomedical and chemical engineering, and SU chemical engineering Ph.D. student Satvik Wani from the L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science using nanobiotechnology-manipulated light particles to accelerate algae growth, was covered in Biofuels Digest, PhysOrg.com and the Softpedia science blog.

Syracuse University is mentioned briefly in a Washington Post TV blog about having an ABC News On Campus bureau.

WSYR-TV (watch clip) and WSYR-AM previewed today’s arrival of new and returning students to the SU campus. Gregory Victory, director of the Office of First-Year and Transfer Programs, was interviewed on today’s move-in activities.

WSYR’s “Bridge Street” (watch clip) hosted Megan Moran to speak about Project Insight, a research project by SU’s Center for Health and Behavior.

The Post-Standard featured the news by Women Transcending Boundaries to introduce “A-Ok! Acts of Kindness Weekend” to commemorate the anniversary of September 11.

FACULTY QUOTES

Gary La Point, assistant professor of supply chain practice in the Whitman School, is quoted in Supply Chain Brain on the effect of overseas energy costs on outsourced manufacturing.
