SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE
The Syracuse University News21 investigative reporting and multimedia journalism initiative was featured in an NPR report on journalism in the 21st century. The New21 program, resident in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and other journalism schools, is funded by the Carnegie and Knight Foundations.
SU is included on Parade Magazine‘s college A-list for students with special needs.
The SU College of Law Cold Case Justice Initiative is mentioned in a New York Times article about progress in solving Civil Rights-era murder cases.
Statistics from SU’s Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) are cited in a Chicago Sun-Times article about immigrant asylum and deportation hearings and the Refugee Protection Program of Human Rights First.
SU is ranked eighth overall in the annual Washington Monthly national universities rankings of schools based on their contributions to the public good in three categories: social mobility, research and service.
Harriet Brown, assistant professor of magazine journalism at the Newhouse School, is featured in a Wisconsin State Journal article about anorexia and Brown’s new memoir “Brave Girl Eating.”
College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) student Elin Sandberg is noted as the recipient of a Budding Artist Scholarship from the fine art show at Sonnenberg Gardens in a Rochester Democrat and Chronicle report.
The Post-Standard Stars magazine reported on VPA student Sarah O’Connor performing in the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse production of “Meet Me in St. Louis.”
