SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

CNN (view the clip) featured the Whitman School of Management’s Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities (EBV) program. Mike Haynie, assistant professor of entrepreneurship in the Whitman School and EBV program founder, was interviewed for the piece.

A Sunday Washington Post op-ed highlighted the work of the Cold Case Justice Initiative—headed by

Syracuse University College of Law Professors Janis McDonald and Paula Johnson—to uncover new details in unsolved Civil Rights-era murder cases.

SU’s Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) statistics were cited in the Christian Science Monitor in an article about federal immigration deportations, and in the St. Paul Pioneer Press about solving the immigration dilemma.

The Herald (Scotland, U.K.) featured a review of SU Drama’s Shipwrecked! a children’s theater production.

The Post-Standard previewed the demonstrations by local college student entrepreneurs as part of the Syracuse Student Sandbox program.

Jeff Comanici, assistant dean for advancement in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, is mentioned in a Post-Standard article on the financial picture for the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra.

FACULTY QUOTES

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is quoted in the Arizona Republic on the movie “Eat, Pray, Love.” He is also quoted in the Kansas City Star on the future of 3-D movies, and in the Washington Post on the death of David Wolper.

Michael Barkun, professor emeritus at the Maxwell School, is quoted in the Huffington Post on conspiracy theories and violence. He is also quoted in the Associated Press on the sovereign citizen movement.

Eric Kingson, professor of social work in the College of Human Ecology’s School of Social Work, spoke with KALW radio in San Francisco about the changes to Social Security in the past 75 years.
