SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

A Nature News article about the Higgs particle and the Nobel Prize mentions Syracuse University physicist Daniel Ferrante, a research associate in The College of Arts and Sciences.

Continuing coverage of recently analyzed and released data from the SU Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) includes a broadcast on Democracy Now! and reports in the East Valley Tribune (Mesa, Ariz.) and The Monitor (McAllen, Texas). Also, a Washington Post article about a Bolivian illegal immigrant involved in fatal car accident mentions TRAC statistics.

SU and the SyracuseCoE are mentioned in a Syracuse.com blog posting about higher education, revitalization of upstate New York’s economy, and the concept of statewide licensing of information resources.

The Post-Standard noted that James A. Clark, professor of theater management in the College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA), was named a VPA associate dean.

FACULTY QUOTES

David M. Crane L’80, professor of practice in the College of Law, is quoted in BBC News and Voice of America articles about the war crimes trial of former Liberian leader Charles Taylor in the Special Court for Sierra Leone and testimony by British model Naomi Campbell.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is quoted in a WBUR (Boston) FM radio report about media coverage of oil spills around the world; a CTV News article about a programming distribution deal between the CBS network and cable provider Comcast Corp. and a Calgary Herald story about the Canadian-made family television show Heartland being syndicated for broadcast in the United States this fall.

Eric Kingson, professor of social work in the College of Human Ecology, co-authored an article on the annual report on Social Security for the Nieman Watchdog.

Menachem Z. Rosensaft, distinguished visiting lecturer at the College of Law, authored a Washington Post “On Faith” column about ghosts of the Holocaust.

Gwendolyn Pough, associate professor of women’s and gender studies, writing and rhetoric in The College of Arts and Sciences, is quoted in The Star (Toronto, Canada) story on dating habits and animal magnetism.
