The Associated Press and KABC-TV in Los Angeles reported on the recent report by Syracuse University’s Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) that U.S. federal criminal immigration prosecutions by the two largest investigative agencies within the Department of Homeland Security have increased to levels seen during the last months of the Bush administration.

The Post-Standard profiled the Near Westside Association, part of the Near Westside Initiative, which is helping to organize new businesses in the area.

The Post-Standard mentioned the SU-led Partnership for Better Education in an article on SUNY-ESF’s ESF SCIENCE camp.

A Post-Standard editorial focused on the possible State Department investigation into the political and economic interests that may have contributed to the release of convicted Pan Am 103 bomber Abdel Basset Ali al-Megrahi. MSNBC and other national media also mention Syracuse University in their reporting.

YNN News quoted Carrie Garrow, adjunct professor of indigenous law and executive director of the Center for Indigenous Law, Governance & Citizenship in the College of Law, in a story on the efforts of the Iroquois lacrosse team to compete in Great Britain.

FACULTY QUOTES

The Buffalo News featured comments from Robert Odawi Porter, professor law in the College of Law, on the Seneca Nation’s positions on casino development and protection of the cigarette business. Porter is a candidate for Seneca Nation president.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is quoted in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on “so bad they’re good” films.
