SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities was featured on an NPR “Tell Me More” show. Mike Haynie, assistant professor of entrepreneurship in the Whitman School of Management, was interviewed.

Paula Meseroll, director of communications and media relations at Syracuse University, and her co-author for the new e-book, “Little Hot Mama: The Flossie Turner Lewis Story,” were featured in a Stay Thirsty magazine story. The book was also mentioned in an Entertainment News blog posting and a Publishing Perspectives editorial about digital books and philanthropy.

SU is mentioned in a Post-Standard story on oversight of the Onondaga Lake cleanup project.

A Post-Standard article about Near Westside Initiative plans for WCNY and ProLiteracy Worldwide relocations to a renovated West Side warehouse mentions Donald Western, SU executive director of community engagement and economic development. Marilyn Higgins, vice president for community engagement and economic development, is quoted in the article.

Sarah McCoubrey, professor in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, and Kyle Bass, adjunct faculty in VPA and resident dramaturg for Syracuse Stage, both recipients of New York Foundation for the Arts fellowships, are featured in a Post-Standard Stars magazine article on the awards and their work.

FACULTY QUOTES

Keith Bybee, the Paul E. and Hon. Joanne F. Alper ‘72 Judiciary Studies Professor at the College of Law and director of the Institute for the Study of the Judiciary, Politics and the Media, authored an op-ed in Jurist on confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan.

Jason Dedrick, associate professor at the School of Information Studies (iSchool), is quoted in a New York Times article on the costs of manufacturing Apple iPhones in China.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is quoted in a CNET story about Facebook and the 11 alleged Russian spies recently arrested. Thompson is also quoted in Politico and Media Bistro stories on CNN following Larry King’s retirement.

Don Siegel, professor of earth science in The College of Arts and Sciences, is quoted in a Binghamton WBGH news report on natural gas drilling.

Monday’s Post-Standard Moneywise section featured summaries of advice for career advancement from SU faculty and staff members Me’Shae Brooks-Rolling, director of special events and public relations in the Burton Blatt Institute; Dan Klamm, outreach and marketing coordinator in SU’s Center for Career for Career Services; and Anthony Rotolo, assistant professor of practice in the School of Information Studies. Klamm also co-authored a Mashable blog posting on professional networking with social media.

Thomas Dennison, professor of practice in public administration in the Maxwell School, is quoted in a Post-Standard article about the proposed merger of Upstate Medical University and Community General Hospital.
