SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

A Yukon News article noted Syracuse University researchers will accompany geologist Jeff Benowitz on a National Science Foundation-funded field research project in the Alaska Range. Paul Fitzgerald, professor of earth sciences in The College of Arts and Sciences, is mentioned in the article.

The Associated Press reported that WAER won honors in the college station category of the New York State Associated Press Broadcasters Association’s annual news awards competition.

A photo from “Open Access, Open Art” discussions including panelists Rachael Gazdick, Say Yes Syracuse executive director, and SU school of Education and College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) faculty members James Haywood Rolling Jr., Kheli Willetts and Joanna Spitzner accompanied the Post-Standard story on The Great Central Depot in the Open City art installation in Lipe Art Park. Olivia Robinson, assistant professor in VPA, is also mentioned.

Roosevelt Wright, associate professor in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is featured in a Sunday Post-Standard article on changing formats in local radio.

The SyracuseCoE is mentioned in a Post-Standard story on recycled lumber and housing deconstruction.

FACULTY QUOTES

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the Newhouse School, is quoted in a Christian Science Monitor article on BP’s live video feed of the undersea oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico; in a Sports Business Journal story on cancellation of the “NASCAR Wives” drama; and in a New York Post story on revenues from the “Seinfeld” series.

Nancy Snow, associate professor in the Newhouse School, wrote a Huffington Post column on strategic communications.

Gustav Niebuhr, associate professor of religion and media in The College of Arts and Sciences and the Newhouse School, was interviewed by WGRZ (Buffalo, N.Y.) on religion, journalism and interfaith relations.
