SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

C-SPAN featured the address delivered by Jamie Dimon at SU’s 156th Commencement exercises.

A physics colloquium presentation at Stanford University by Mark Bowick, professor of physics in The College of Arts and Sciences, is noted in the San Francisco Examiner.

Mary Kiernan, food and beverage instructor in the College of Human Ecology’s Department of Nutrition and Hospitality Management, was featured in the Post-Standard for being named 2010 “Chef of the Year” by the Syracuse chapter of the American Culinary Federation.

Jeffrey Stonecash, professor of political science in the Maxwell School and College of Arts and Sciences, is featured in Syracuse.com for the poll he conducted on Syracuse schools.

The Post-Standard included the University Community Harvest Farmers’ Market in its round-up feature on local farm markets.

FACULTY QUOTES

Alex Thevaranjan, associate professor of accounting at the Whitman School, is mentioned in Pysch Central and Scientific Blogging for his paper, “A Moral Solution to the Moral Hazard Problem” on morality and economic theory.

Nancy Snow, associate professor in the Newhouse School, wrote a column for the Huffington Post reflecting on the legacy of Edward R. Murrow as director of the United States Information Agency.

Rick Burton, David B. Falk Professor of Sport Management in the College of Human Ecology, and Norm O’Reilly, associate professor of sport management, co-authored an opinion piece in the SportsBusiness Journal (subscription required) on the growing popularity of lacrosse across the United States.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is quoted in the Los Angeles Times on Trivial Pursuit, in an article on the death of the game’s creator, Chris Haney.

Dan Klamm, outreach and marketing coordinator for SU’s Center for Career Services, blogged on Mashable about using social media to help with job interviews.
