SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

Statistics from Syracuse University’s Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) are cited in a San Francisco Chronicle article about implementation of the Secure Communities federal immigration enforcement program in San Francisco, impacting the city’s sanctuary policy; and in a Las Vegas Review-Journal story on area immigration case backlogs and deportations.

An Inside Higher Ed article on social trust and the future of diversity on campuses includes comments by SU Chancellor Nancy Cantor.

College of Law Dean Hannah R. Arterian is featured in a Post-Standard question-and-answer interview about the focus of upcoming Senate confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan.

A photo of construction progress on the Near West Side green homes TED and R-House appeared in Sunday’s Post-Standard. Including Live Work Home, the three projects from the School of Architecture’s “From the Ground Up: Innovative Green Homes” design competition are scheduled for completion in the next few months.

David M. Crane L’80, professor of practice in the College of Law, is quoted in a New York Times article on money missing from Liberia believed to have been stolen by former leader Charles Taylor.

The University of Delaware commencement address by Catherine Bertini, professor of public administration at the Maxwell School, was covered by the Newark Post (Newark, Del.), News Journal (Wilmington, Del.) and the Associated Press.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is quoted in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Gulf Times (Qatar) on CNN’s 30th anniversary; in the Boston Globe on an improvement in NBC’s late-night ratings with Jay Leno back at “The Tonight Show”; and in the Detroit News on the passing of actor Gary Coleman. Thompson is also quoted in a Daily Telegraph (UK) story about British expatriates in Hollywood and a Ventura County Star story on Garrison Keillor in California.
