SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

Syracuse University is included among WiGiT the institutional partners testing wireless grids to refine open specifications standards in an article in the trade publication International Science Grid This Week. Lee McKnight, associate professor in the School of Information Studies, is quoted.

A Chronicle of Higher Education blog post notes SU is among those universities whose leaders called on members of Congress to end the policy of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” in the military.

A brief story in Episcopal Life Online includes the Rev. Jennifer Baskerville-Burrows, Episcopal chaplain at SU, among presenters at a conference in Athens, Ga., for campus chaplains in higher education.

SU is mentioned in a WGRZ-TV (Buffalo, N.Y.) report on lobbying by New York colleges and universities.

The College of Visual and Performing Arts design workshop at the Warehouse is featured in a Post-Standard story on the manufacture of exterior panels for the Live Work Home “green” house on the Near West Side, one of three projects resulting from the School of Architecture’s “From the Ground Up: Innovative Green Homes” design competition. Jacob Brown, program administrator in the School of Architecture, is quoted in the article about the screening panels. Richard Cook of Cook+Fox Architects, a member of the School of Architecture Board of Advisors, is also mentioned.

Results from the South Side Innovation Center’s Entrepreneurial Assistance Program business plan competition were reported in Syracuse.com and Margaret Butler, facilities coordinator in the Whitman School of Management and SSIC, was quoted.

FACULTY QUOTES

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is quoted in Reuters and MTV stories on “American Idol” outcomes and viewership.
