Yesterday’s Syracuse University Commencement celebration featuring JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon as commencement speaker was covered by Bloomberg/BusinessWeek, Reuters, CNBC, Bloomberg Television, MSNBC, WSYR-TV, Post-Standard, YNN News, WSTM-TV, and WAER-AM. Syracuse.com has posted a video story on the event. Additional coverage included a Saturday Post-Standard story on SU School of Education graduates facing difficult market conditions.
WSYR-TV on Saturday reported on the fourth SU student to graduate from the Kwasnowski family.
The graduation of the inaugural class of Haudenosaunee Promise Scholars was reported in a Post-Standard article featuring new graduate Joie Hill. SU Chancellor Nancy Cantor and Regina Jones, assistant director in the Office of Multicultural Affairs, are also quoted in the article.
Proposals from a communications design class for improvements to the Near Westside were featured in a Post-Standard story. Chancellor Cantor; Marilyn Higgins, vice president for community engagement and economic impact; and College of Visual and Performing Arts professors Bill Padgett and Roderick Martinez are mentioned in the story on the students’ Salt District presentation to the Near West Side Initiative Board.
A Sunday Post-Standard story reported on the progress of Connective Corridor projects to better connect SU to downtown’s cultural, civic and business sites.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is quoted in the Philadelphia Inquirer magazine about “Candid Camera” as a precursor to reality TV; and in second Inquirer article about the dominance of reality TV programming on cable and broadcast networks.
