SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

The Economic Times reported that the Indian Forest Service ministry of environment and forests will send administrators to participate in a two-week Maxwell School leadership training program. Daniel Nelson, program administrator in Maxwell’s Executive Education Programs, is quoted in the article.

Maxwell School and Whitman School of Management graduate student Bruce Gannaway commented in an AFCEA article on the Joint Warfighting Conference panel discussion about challenges facing multinational troops in Afghanistan.

Peter Rounds, senior information technology analyst in Syracuse University’s Information and Technology Services, is quoted in a TMCNet.com article on Plixer software for analyzing network traffic.

CNY Central and WSYR-TV reports detailed Syracuse University Commencement preparations. L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science senior Ryan Charboneau was featured. Bloomberg and Fox News also previewed SU’s Commencement ceremony on Sunday.

Margaret Butler, facilities coordinator in the Whitman School of Management and South Side Innovation Center (SSIC), was quoted in a WSYR-AM report on SSIC participants presenting their business plans as they prepare to graduate from the program.

YNN News and WSYR-AM reported on the dedication of the Say Yes to Education Family Park at Alliance Bank Stadium.

Eagle Newspapers previewed the May 23 Pops concert by the Syracuse University Brass Ensemble, with proceeds going toward helping area students complete a mission trip to refurbish homes for low-income families.

The Post-Standard reported on the “From the Ground Up” home project on the Near West Side. “From the Ground Up” was founded by the School of Architecture in partnership with Home HeadQuarters, the Syracuse Center of Excellence and the Near West Side Initiative as a program to design homes that are sustainable, energy-efficient and affordable.

FACULTY QUOTES

Ellen deLara, associate professor of social work in the College of Human Ecology, was interviewed on by WGBB-AM (Long Island) on the factors that create bullying, and on the media’s perception of the differences in bullying by boys and by girls.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is quoted in WTOP-AM (Washington, D.C.) on the end of the television series “Law & Order.” He also commented on the conclusion of “Lost” in 680 News (Toronto).
