SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

The New York Times reviewed the Dahesh Museum of Art exhibition “Becoming an Artist: The Academy in 19th-Century France” at Syracuse University’s Palitz Gallery in the Lubin House.

Continuing coverage of the College of Law’s Cold Case Justice Initiative “Never Too Late for Justice” retreat in Atlanta includes reports by WABE public radio (audio link here) and WGCL (Atlanta) and an Associated Press slide show on the Newser news aggregator web site.

An Ithaca Journal article includes SU among colleges and universities signing a letter requesting members of Congress to support the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act of 2009 relative to determining residency for higher education purposes.

Syracuse.com previewed the 34th Annual Quality Infant Toddler Caregiving Workshop to be held at SU in May.

Alice Sterling Honig, professor emerita of child and family studies in the College of Human Ecology, is quoted in a USA Today article on spanking.

Brian Sheehan, associate professor of advertising in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is quoted in an Advertising Age article discussing media companies venturing into advertising-agency-like services such as ad creation.

Gary Pavela, director of SU’s Academic Integrity Office, commented for a Chronicle of Higher Education story about intervention by law enforcement officials regarding college drug-enforcement and student-behavior policies.

Boyce Watkins, assistant professor of finance in the Whitman School of Management, commented on unemployment rates for a National Action Network panel session airing on C-SPAN.

Jeremy Shiffman, associate professor of public administration at the Maxwell School, is quoted in a second Canadian Medical Association Journal article in a series of articles looking at the funding of basic research.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the Newhouse School, is quoted in a Canadian Business magazine story on Cirque de Soleil.
