SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

National and regional media coverage of the “Never Too Late for Justice” gathering in Atlanta, hosted by Syracuse University College of Law’s Cold Case Justice Initiative (CCJI), included reports by CNN (watch clip), WXIA Atlanta (watch clip), the Associated Press and the Anniston Star (Ala.). CCJI co-founders and College of Law professors Paula Johnson and Janis McDonald are quoted.

David Rubin, professor and dean emeritus at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is featured in a Post-Standard story on the origins of fantasy baseball.

The Newhouse School’s announcement of Mirror Award finalists was featured in a Mediaite.com blog posting.

The SU-IBM Green Data Center is noted in a CIO Zone.com blog posting about a new data center being built in Espoo, Finland, and cited briefly by the Post-Standard for being named among the year’s 15 most innovative green technology projects by InfoWorld.

The Post-Standard Stars magazine previewed the SU Department of Drama’s production of “I Love You Because” and noted Sunday’s pre-screenings of Syracuse International Film Festival films at Cazenovia College.

SU’s Burton Blatt Institute is mentioned in a Post-Standard article on a local high school student living with high-functioning autism.

A photo of graduate student and Salt Hill Journal co-editor Nadxieli Nieto Hall accompanies a Post-Standard story on the literary magazine’s 25th issue. SU’s Creative Writing Program and Mary Karr, Jesse Truesdell Peck Professor of Literature in The College of Arts and Sciences, are also mentioned in the article.

The College of Visual and Performing Arts is mentioned in a CNY Link story on winners of the Young Playwrights Festival at Syracuse Stage.

The Special Collections Research Center in the SU Library is mentioned briefly in a Post-Standard story on Maxfield Parrish connections to the Central New York area.

Today’s lecture on the SU campus by the son of one of the three Bielski brothers credited with rescuing Russian Jews during World War II is noted in the Post-Standard.

Brand-Yourself.com is mentioned in a Post-Standard Moneywise story on personal branding campaigns.

FACULTY QUOTES

An op-ed by Youlonda Copeland-Morgan, associate vice president of enrollment management, appeared in the Sunday Post-Standard discussing the need to educate students in financial literacy, and the “I Otto Know This” program recently implemented by the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship Programs.

Louis Kriesberg, professor emeritus in the Maxwell School, authored an op-ed for Common Ground News Service on needed approaches to resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Kevin O’Neill, associate professor of advertising in the Newhouse School, wrote a commentary in Adweek on trends in advertising relative to cultural shifts in gender stereotypes.

An op-ed by Mitchel Wallerstein, dean of the Maxwell School, about a renewed interest in public service appeared in the Albany Times-Union.
