L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science Dean Laura J. Steinberg is included among researchers in a United Press International report on results of a National Science Foundation-funded study that analyzed releases of hazardous materials along the Gulf Coast as a result of Hurricane Katrina.

The March 22 issue of New Yorker magazine profiled the Syracuse University men’s lacrosse program in the context of its game against the University of Denver.

The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications’ announcement of Mirror Award finalists was reported by Poynter Online, Media Bistro and Media Matters for America.

FACULTY QUOTES

An article by David Cay Johnston, distinguished visiting lecturer in the College of Law and Whitman School, on an international spying operation by Los Angeles Police Department chief Daryl Gates appeared in LA Observed.com, The Wrap and Alternet . The topic was also reported by Santa Monica’s KCRW (third item) and Pasadena’s KPPC radio stations.

Michael Barkun, professor of political science in the Maxwell School, is quoted in a Globe and Mail article on the upsurge in patriot and militia groups in the United States.
