SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

The March/April issue of The Good Life: Central New York Magazine features writings by several SU community members, including an essay, “A love letter to Green Lakes,” by Johanna Keller, director of the Goldring Arts Journalism Program and associate professor in the Newhouse School; an essay by Catherine Bertini, professor of public administration at the Maxwell School, on making a difference through humanitarian work; and a “Bookshelf” column by iSchool Dean and Trustee Professor Elizabeth D. Liddy.

The March/April issue also featured stories about SU community members and events, including photos from this year’s Martin Luther King Jr. celebration; a feature on the paintings by Sarah McCoubrey, associate professor in the College of Visual and Performing Arts; and “Networks” profiles of the WISE (Women Igniting the Spirit of Entrepreneurship) Center and Symposium, and Women of the University Community.

Tom Sherman, professor in the Department of Transmedia in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, was featured in the Montreal Gazette and Art Daily for winning a 2010 Governor General’s Award in Visual and Media Arts.

Scott Nicholson, associate professor in the School of Information Studies, is mentioned in American Libraries Magazine for the online education segments he developed for YouTube.

A Huffington Post column featured students affected by the tuition increase.

Syracuse.com reported that Ag 4 Africa, a nonprofit company created by students in the Whitman School of Management, advanced its business plan to the semifinal stage in the Dell Social Innovation Competition.

Syracuse.com and Eagle Newspapers reported on the planned Syracuse production of a John Malkovich film co-written by Owen Shapiro, film professor in the College of Visual and Performing Arts.

The Post-Standard previewed the Society for New Music concert this Thursday in Setnor Auditorium.

FACULTY QUOTES

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is quoted in the New York Times about the television program “Mad Men.”
