SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

A presentation on Giovannni Boldini by Judith Meighan, associate professor in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute was previewed by the iBerkshires.com web site.

A CNY Link feature detailed the recent Cold Case Justice Initiative panel presentation and Mavis Staples concert, with mention of Syracuse University Chancellor Nancy Cantor and College of Law professors Paula Johnson and Janis McDonald.

The iSchool’s “Girls Are I.T.” event on March 6 was mentioned in The Citizen (Auburn, N.Y.) story about the Girl Scouts organization celebrating its 98th anniversary.

The Post-Standard briefly noted tonight’s University Lectures presentation in Hendricks Chapel by Scott Simon of National Public Radio.

A photo of Syracuse University student Ryan Dickerson accompanied the Post-Standard story on his new business venture producing Rylaxer pillows. The Whitman School of Management, Falcone Center for Entrepreneurship and Couri Hatchery are mentioned in the article and Tom Kruczek, executive director of the Falcone Center, is quoted.

The Post-Standard‘s “Consider This” column mentions a book by Gerald Grant, Hannah Hammond Professor of Education and Sociology Emeritus in the School of Education, in discussing city and suburban school districts.

Syracuse.com reported on University’s Union’s announcement that the band N.E.R.D. will perform at the SU Block Party concert.

FACULTY QUOTES

Peter Blanck, University Professor and director of the Burton Blatt Institute, wrote on audible technology for accessible e-books in the Chronicle of Higher Education.

A paper about the Internet and credibility and postings about media venues by R. David Lankes, associate professor and director of the library and information science program at the iSchool, are referenced in a Columbia Journalism Review story on the St. Louis Post-Dispatch “Talk of the Day” blog community controversy.

Louis Kriesberg, professor emeritus in the Maxwell School, is quoted in an Arab News article on restarting Israeli-Palestine dialogues.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is quoted in a USA Today story on “Adopt a Liberal” trading card decks and prayer.

David Cay Johnston, distinguished visiting lecturer in the College of Law and Whitman School, appeared on WHAM (Rochester, N.Y.) to talk about the economy and was quoted in Chris Hedges’ column in Truthdig on the risk of a revolution in the United States.

William D. Duncombe, professor of public administration in the Maxwell School, is quoted in a Times Herald-Record story on school districts sharing services to save costs.

Dean of Admissions Susan Donovan was interviewed on CNY Central about the effect on SU admissions decisions with the New York State Board of Regents considering elimination of some examinations as a cost saving measure.
