SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

Barbara Tagg, associate artist in Setnor School of Music in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, was featured in a Post-Standard story about a farewell concert for her by the Syracuse Children’s Chorus as Tagg transitions out of the role of chorus director.

The Post-Standard and Syracuse.com reported on the Art-in-Motion presentation by Barnaby Evans about the WaterFire art installation in Providence, R.I.

Thursday Morning Roundtable discussions moderated by Grant Reeher, professor of political science in the Maxwell School and College of Arts and Sciences, were reported in a Syracuse.com story on mayoral control of the city schools.

Syracuse.com and WSYR-AM reported on Newhouse School students working on a public relations plan for Blodgett School.

The Post-Standard reported briefly on a proposed change to Syracuse University tuition.

Two Post-Standard briefings reported SyracuseCoE was designated at the forefront of green innovation by Cleantech Group and will be honored by Carrier Corporation during Friday dedication ceremonies.

The Post-Standard noted that SU’s Poco Allegro wind ensemble, directed by Justin Mertz, assistant director of bands at SU and a faculty member in the Setnor School, presented a February concert with Marcellus students.

FACULTY QUOTES

Leonard Burman, Daniel Patrick Moynihan Professor of Public Affairs in the Maxwell School, is quoted in a Wall Street Journal article on debt in the California state economy and the federal system.

Rick Burton, David B. Falk Professor of Sport Management in the College of Human Ecology, is quoted in a Business Week article on Tiger Woods’ standing as a celebrity endorser.

The “Tax Notes” commentary authored by David Cay Johnston, distinguished visiting lecturer in the College of Law and Whitman School, about IBM, 1968 tax law and the plane which crashed into the IRS offices in Austin, Texas, was republished in Huffington Post and Nieman Watchdog blog entries.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the Newhouse School, is quoted on MTV.com about American Idol contestants and their social media updates.
