Syracuse University students in Chile are included in a Chronicle of Higher Education story on American students safe after the earthquake.

Inc. Magazine featured SU student Ryan Dickerson in a story on college start-ups. Dickerson works on his Rylaxer product, a bed transforming pillow, in the Whitman School of Management’s Couri Hatchery, a student-centered business incubator.

Launch of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications “Navigate New Media” collaborative project developed by Newhouse faculty members Brian Sheehan, Larry Elin and Stephen Masiclat was noted in Media Bistro‘s WebNewser blog. Comments by Elin and Sheehan are included in the piece.

Syracuse.com reported on an Art-in-Motion conversation to be held in The Warehouse, the first of several forums and projects in city neighborhoods on revitalization.

An SU/SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry compromise on proposed benefit changes affecting SUNY-ESF employees was reported in the Post-Standard.

The appointment of Tiffany Steinwert as sixth dean of Hendricks Chapel was noted in Syracuse.com.

FACULTY QUOTES

Stuart Thorson, professor of political science and international relations in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs and The College of Arts and Sciences, is quoted in The Scientist on scientific collaboration in North Korea.

Milton Mueller, iSchool professor, is quoted in a PC World article on ICANN, China and the “dot.China” domain name extension.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the Newhouse School, is quoted in Sunday Times (London) and Daily Mail (London) stories on a film about a young female serial killer and on WCBS radio in New York City (listen to audio clip) on Jay Leno back at “The Tonight Show.” Thompson is also quoted in a Times Union (Albany, N.Y.) story on cruise lines providing religious accommodations to customers.

A Post-Standard letter to the editor from David Rubin, professor and dean emeritus at the Newhouse School, discusses the future of live opera in Syracuse, following presentation of “The Flying Dutchman.”
