SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

Syracuse.com , WSYR-TV and WSYR-AM reported that Syracuse University students studying in Chile through SU Abroad were safe following the earthquake in that country.

The March dedication of SyracuseCoE headquarters is mentioned in a Boston Globe article on personal environmental controls and H. Ezzat Khalifa, NYSTAR Distinguished Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in the L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science, is quoted.

Anthony Rotolo, iSchool social media strategist and adjunct professor, wrote a Post-Standard Moneywise article about blogging to achieve professional goals. Dan Klamm, outreach and marketing coordinator in SU’s Center for Career for Career Services, is mentioned in the piece and S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications alumna Maureen Green contributed a sidebar on blogs to the section.

The Post-Standard reviewed the Syracuse Stage presentation of “Lookingglass Alice.”

SU student videos used to create the set for the opera are mentioned in a Post-Standard review of “The Flying Dutchman.”

FACULTY QUOTES

Pierre Yourougou, visiting associate professor of finance in the Whitman School of Management, is quoted in Global Finance magazine on global business and investments in sub-Saharan Africa.

Boyce Watkins, assistant professor of finance in the Whitman School, commented in a CNN “Anderson Cooper 360” story on the shortage of family doctors in the American healthcare system.

In a column on the Cold Case Justice Initiative written by Post-Standard columnist Sean Kirst, College of Law professors Paula Johnson and Janis McDonald are quoted.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the Newhouse School, is quoted in Associated Press articles on public distrust of public- and private-sector institutions and Chatroulette on the Internet using webcams. Thompson is also quoted in New York Daily News and Journal Star (Lincoln, Neb.) stories on Jay Leno’s move back to “The Tonight Show.”

Leonard Burman, Daniel Patrick Moynihan Professor of Public Affairs in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, is quoted in a CNN Money.com article on America’s total debt load, including hidden debt owed to government trust funds.

Comments by Catherine Bertini, professor of practice of public administration in the Maxwell School, at Thursday Morning Roundtable about international humanitarian relief efforts were quoted in the Sunday Post-Standard’s “Consider This” column.

Mitch Franklin, assistant professor of accounting practice at the Whitman School, is quoted in an Oswego County Business Magazine (subscription required) article on how to improve your bottom line.

Jeffrey Stonecash, professor of political science in the Maxwell School and College of Arts and Sciences, is quoted in a Buffalo News story on Governor Paterson’s legacy and agenda for New York State.

George Theoharis, assistant professor in the School of Education, is quoted in a Post-Standard story on a Liverpool School District proposal to split the high school into six academies.
