Former SU Treasurer Heiligman dies at age 81

Former Syracuse University Treasurer Richard I. Heiligman, 81, died Dec. 25 in Sarasota, Florida, following a long illness.  

After working in the investment business for many years, including Bache and Co. and Bayrock Advisors, he became SU’s treasurer and managed the University’s endowment fund from 1973–89.  

Heiligman was a director of Henry and Henry Co. in Buffalo and served on the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra board. He also was a member of the Century Club of Syracuse and Lafayette Country Club.  

He graduated from New York Military Academy in 1945, then attended Rutgers University and graduated from New York University in 1949.

Heiligman is survived by his two daughters, Audrey K. Heiligman and Margot S. Heiligman Williams, and a grandson, Elias Rex Williams.
