The Independent (London), International Herald Tribune, Sunday Tribune (South Africa), Christian Science Monitor and Philadelphia Inquirer included quotes by Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, in coverage about the ending of the Oprah show. Thompson was also quoted on Winfrey’s move on the “Z on TV” blog, in DigitalJournal.com, and on WINS-AM and WTOP-DC radio news stories.

A Newsweek article on education reform mentioned Syracuse University’s Say Yes to Education partnership with city schools.

Jeffrey Stonecash, professor of political science in the Maxwell School and College of Arts and Sciences, is quoted in a Politico story on President Obama’s approval ratings.

Mara Sapon-Shevin, professor of teaching and leadership in the School of Education, is quoted in an Associated Press article on geographic disparities in educational programs for gifted children.

Ray Wimer, assistant professor of retail management in the Whitman School, was quoted in a St. Louis Post-Dispatch story on electronic readers.

The University’s 30th Annual International Thanksgiving Dinner held Sunday, sponsored by Hendricks Chapel, the Division of Student Affairs and the Lillian and Emanuel Slutzker Center for International Services, was covered by News 10 Now. Patricia Burak, director of the Slutzker Center, was quoted.

The Central New York Business Journal featured iVenture, a student organization in the School of Information Studies (iSchool), in the cover story of the Nov. 20 issue.

Research by Charles Driscoll, University Professor of Environmental Systems Engineering in the L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science, was noted in a Post-Standard article on mercury contamination in the environment relative to a renewal of Covanta Energy Corporation’s air pollution permit. Covanta operates the Onondaga County Resource Recovery Agency trash incinerator at Rock Cut Road.

The Post-Standard “Voices” section featured first-hand accounts by teens who participated in the recent SU campus and community Paul Taylor Dance Company residency, shadowing dancers in the Taylor 2 ensemble.

Sunday’s Post-Standard Stars magazine reviewed the “Corporeal” exhibition currently at Light Work.

The Orange Line Transportation bus company created by two SU students was profiled by the Post-Standard.

Project Feed Me’s Thanksgiving unity celebration was covered by News 10 Now. SU student Leah Moushy was quoted.

SU graduate student David Mancuso was interviewed on CNY Central about the new students’ organization and resource center for veterans and their families.
