The Academy Is…, a Chicago-based band, was formed in 2003 when musicians William Beckett (lead vocals) and Michael Carden (guitar) joined forces along with Adam Siska (bass) and Andrew Mrotek (drums), and later replaced their second guitarist with Australian Michael Guy Chislett. Six years later, The Academy Is… has released three full length albums, “Fast Times at Barrington High” (2008) being their most recent, which Rolling Stone ranked among the year’s Top 50 Albums.
Prior to the recently completed 2009 Alternative Press Fall Ball tour, The Academy Is… released “Lost in Pacific Time: The AP/EP,” (2009) including five new songs, one of which features Andrew McMahon of Jack’s Mannequin.
The Academy Is… shares a label and has toured with the likes of Cobra Starship, Fall Out Boy, Paramore and Gym Class Heroes. The band was also featured on the cover of a recent Alternative Press issue.
