New York City-based public relations professionals will welcome 19 public relations and public diplomacy students from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications during the Fall PR Benchmark Trip Oct. 28-30.

The biannual trip offers students an opportunity to learn about public relations as it is practiced in New York, which many consider the nerve center of the field.

Students will visit FD (Financial Dynamics); BlissPR; and Ruder Finn Planned TV Arts on their first day in New York. That evening, they will hear from a panel of former PR students, including Hillary Magee G’06, senior account executive with Edelman PR’s Change and Employee Engagement; Alexis Guthrie G’06, senior account executive with Edelman; Anna Brodetsky G’07, account manager with Utopia; and Sean Mills G’99, vice president of Bite New York. The next day will include visits to A&E; Bite Communications; and PMK/HBH Public Relations.

Among the alumni who will serve as hosts are Rachel Gerber ’08, associate account executive with BlissPR; and Emily Spitale ’02, director of publicity with A&E.

Students participating in this year’s trip include Claudine Allen; Lisa Cialfi; Marki Conway; Jovita D’sa; Rosalind Dean; Olivia Franken; Joyelle Freeman; April Gascon; Nicole Krestos; Amanda Lieberman; Nick Lombardo; Li Lun; Heather Mitchell; Cynthia Sun; Delante Thomas; Bo Wen; Wei Ting (Lucy) Wang; and LaTalia Williams.

The PR benchmark trips are made possible by a gift from Shelly Lottman Fisher ’80.
