The Department of Recreation Services and University Union will present master storyteller, author and musician Odds Bodkin. He will entertain the SU community on Tuesday, Oct. 27, in Grant Auditorium at 8 p.m. A valid SU ID must be presented at the door in order to gain free entry.
Hailed as a “consummate storyteller” by The New York Times, Bodkin is best known for his unique storytelling style, complete with character-voice and original music accompaniment. His stories mystify listeners from all over the country. He has performed at universities, museums, theaters, the National Storytelling Festival and the White House on numerous occasions.
Bodkin will entertain the SU community with three captivating stories, including “The Storm Breeder,” “The Killer Children” and “Skin of the Goat.”
In “The Storm Breeder,” a businessman visiting New England meets a wraith on the road and grows obsessed with seeing the face no one has seen in 50 years. When he finally does, he comes unhinged.
In “The Killer Children,” were-panthers, night predators that turn human, kill six villagers. Amidst the panthers’ screams, a father discovers that he is next.
In “Skin of the Goat,” a serf is tricked out of his gold by a greedy priest. Soon, he who dons the skin of the devil suffers a fate worse than death.
