SU in the News: Tuesday, October 20, 2009

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, was quoted in Agence France Presse and Kansas City Star stories on the Colorado helium balloon hoax and on Fox News about the promotion of volunteerism.

Syracuse University Chancellor Nancy Cantor, Elizabeth Liddy, dean of the School of Information Studies (iSchool), and Lee McKnight, associate professor in the iSchool, were quoted in a SpaceDaily.com article on Summerhill Biomass Systems, a solid biomass energy concept showcased at the Syracuse Tech Garden’s Fall Tech Expo. The Syracuse Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Development (SEED) Project was also mentioned.

Gary Radke, professor of fine arts in The College of Arts and Sciences, was mentioned in a Seattle Times story on Michelangelo and Calder exhibitions at the Seattle Art Museum.

The Post-Standard reported on SU’s production of steam heat for campus buildings and neighboring institutions.

A presentation by Thomas Dennison, professor of practice in public administration in the Maxwell School, on health care reform was reported by Syracuse.com.

Today’s University Lectures Series presentation by John Hendricks, Discovery Channel founder, was noted briefly in the Post-Standard.
