Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, was quoted in New York Times, CNN, National Post (Canada), Christian Science Monitor and New York Daily News stories on an alleged extortion attempt involving David Letterman. Thompson was also quoted in a Philadelphia Inquirer article on Comcast’s bid to buy a controlling interest in NBC Universal and in a Sacramento Bee story on shopping mall dress codes.

Syracuse University Chancellor Nancy Cantor was quoted in a Post-Standard story on the Syracuse Festival of Races, with events held in the SU neighborhood, starting and finishing at Manley Field House. SU Army Reserve Officers Training Corps cadets volunteered for the events.

SU was among the colleges and universities mentioned in a Chronicle of Higher Education roundup of billion-dollar campaigns.

Janel Leone, assistant professor, Department of Child and Family Studies in the College of Human Ecology, was interviewed by WQUN (Hamden, Conn.) about a presentation she gave at Quinnipiac University titled, “Male Partner Violence Against Women: Health Consequences and Victim Help Seeking.”

Philip Arnold, associate professor of indigenous religion in The College of Arts and Sciences, was quoted in a Post-Standard story on the Haudenosaunee Blessing of the Waters at Onondaga Lake.

Amanda Nicholson, assistant professor of retail management practice in the Whitman School of Management, was quoted in the Post-Standard on Urban Outfitters moving into Armory Square.

Daniel Hayes, assistant professor of political science in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs and The College of Arts and Sciences, was quoted in a Post-Standard article on a Near Westside Initiative voter registration drive. SU student Michael Short was also quoted.

Patrick Ryan, senior instructor of sport management in the College of Human Ecology, discussed on CNY Central TV news of the selected host city for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.

Today’s University Lectures Series presentation of Khaled Hosseini at Hendricks Chapel was noted briefly in the Post-Standard.
