SU in the News: Tuesday, September 29, 2009

Syracuse University Chancellor Nancy Cantor and Hannah R. Arterian, dean of the College of Law, were mentioned in a Post-Standard guest commentary written by Karen DeCrow on Terry O’Neill, new national president of the National Organization of Women, visiting Syracuse.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, was quoted in a Boston Globe story on “The Brady Bunch” and a Vancouver Sun story on TV theme songs. Thompson and SU graduate student Lauren Chizinski were quoted in an Associated Press story on “The Twilight Zone.”

Nancy Snow, associate professor in the Newhouse School, wrote a Huffington Post column on American journalism and the passing of William Safire, New York Times columnist and SU trustee.

Scott Lathrop, clinical professor of marketing practice in the Whitman School of Management, was interviewed by WSYR-TV on the potential marketing impact for Central New York of the Turning Stone golf tournament.

Say Yes to Education was mentioned on WSYR-AM’s Jim Reith show during discussion of a proposed longer school day.

Doctoral candidate David Babson was quoted in The Citizen (Auburn, N.Y.) story on an archeological excavation along the Erie Canal.
