The passing of William Safire, New York Times columnist and Syracuse University trustee, was covered by local and international media including the Associated Press, New York Times, Globe and Mail (Toronto), Guardian (UK), Post-Standard, NPR and WSYR-AM.

Research by SU’s Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) was cited in Associated Press, Newsday and WSYR-AM articles about the U.S. government prosecuting only about one quarter of the people charged with terrorism. David Burnham, co-director of TRAC, is quoted.

Ravi Shukla, associate professor of finance in the Whitman School of Management, is quoted in a Washington Post article on investing in zombie stocks.

Gary Radke, professor of fine arts in The College of Arts and Sciences, is featured in an Atlanta Journal-Constitution article on the installation of the Leonardo da Vinci-designed Sforza horse at the High Museum of Art in conjunction with the exhibition, “Leonardo da Vinci: Hand of the Genius.”

Mark Monmonier, distinguished professor of geography in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, is quoted in a Washington Post (registration required) story on privacy and the increased use of electronic monitoring devices for tracking offenders.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is quoted in a Forbes article on the boom in survival television shows.

John P. Gross Jr., practitioner-in-residence in the College of Law, is quoted in a Post-Standard article on a possible appeal in the recent Alan Jones conviction.

A photo of Helen Mahon, one of several Newhouse students in Skaneateles to chronicle village life for a photojournalism workshop, appeared in the Saturday Post-Standard.

The Near Westside Initiative and SU were mentioned in a brief Post-Standard preview of a groundbreaking ceremony for renovation of the Lincoln Building.
