Rick Burton, the David B. Falk Distinguished Professor of Sport Management in the College of Human Ecology, and Norm O’Reilly, associate professor of sport management, co-authored an article in Street & Smith’s Sports Business Journal (subscription required) on the costs and benefits for cities hosting the Olympics.

The Associated Press, Post-Standard and WSYR-TV reported on the White House Task Force on Middle Class Families panel discussion convening on campus Wednesday to address college access and affordability. Panelists will include Vice President Joe Biden, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and Education Secretary Arne Duncan.

Leonard Burman, Daniel Patrick Moynihan Professor of Public Affairs in the Maxwell School, was quoted in a Los Angeles Times article on the proposed taxation of high-end health care benefits.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, commented in a Pittsburgh Post-Gazette story on the promotion of Diane Sawyer to ABC nightly news anchor and was quoted in a Crain’s New York Business article on upcoming publication of the follow-up book to “The Da Vinci Code.”

Research led by Michael Cosgrove, assistant professor of biology in The College of Arts and Sciences, and the research team’s discovery of a second molecular switch within the Mixed Lineage Leukemia protein complex was reported in Medical News Today and MediLexicon.com.

Thomas Dennison, professor of practice in public administration in the Maxwell School, was quoted in a Sunday Post-Standard article on the opening of the Golisano Children’s Hospital.

Jeffrey Stonecash, professor of political science in the Maxwell School and College of Arts and Sciences, was quoted in a Rochester Democrat & Chronicle story on primary elections in Monroe County.

John Fiset, associate director of Syracuse University Project Advance, was quoted in a Utica Observer Dispatch story on a dual-credit sociology course being offered at the area’s Thomas R. Proctor High School this year.

“The Mix,” a special section written by students in the Newhouse School’s Goldring Arts Journalism Program and reporting on the Central New York arts community, was published in Friday’s Post-Standard.
