Lutheran Campus Ministry at Syracuse University to hold annual music festival and silent auction April 26April 21, 2009Kelly Homan Rodoskikahoman@syr.edu

The Third Annual CNY Conference Music Festival and Silent Auction will be held on Sunday, April 26, from 2-5 p.m. in the Nifkin Lounge in Marshall Hall on the campus of the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry.

The event, sponsored by Lutheran Campus Ministry (LCM) at Syracuse University, will honor Will Headlee, SU professor emeritus and former professor of organ. All profits from the afternoon of food, fun, raffles and music will benefit Lutheran Campus Ministry graduate and undergraduate programs, the Step Center (an urban immersion experience) and Ecohouse Network (a sustainable living project).

Tickets for the event are $5 per person or $10 per family, and are available through LCM or at the door. For more information, call 443-2439.

Musical acts will include Belle Air Trio (English handbells); Colorless Green Idealists (a student band); Dakar (a four-piece student rock band); George “Geoclipse” Prounis (a solo artist with banjo accompaniment); the Lambda Sigma Upsilon Strolling Group; and a mass choir comprised from congregations in the Syracuse area that belong to the Upstate New York Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA).

Auction items available for bid include a basketball autographed by SU men’s basketball coach Jim Boeheim; an Adirondack chair; giant chocolate Go Green basket; a foosball table; 2009 SU football tickets; and legal services. For more information on auction items, visit http://hendricks.syr.edu/lutheran.

The event will also include a tribute in memory of Shannon Kane, a 2008 graduate of Syracuse University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts. The Setnor School of Music’s Woodwind Quintet will perform “Never Forgotten, Her Light Still Shines,” composed by senior Stephen Salem. A Gemeinhardt flute will be auctioned to benefit a scholarship fund in Kane’s memory.
