Election to be held for Student Association representatives to SU Board of TrusteesApril 09, 2009Bridget Schultzbmschult@syr.edu

The Syracuse University Student Association will hold an election for the SA representative to the University’s Board of Trustees on Monday, April 27. The last day for a student to sign up to be considered in the election is Wednesday, April 22.

The Board of Trustees oversees the University’s academic and administrative operations. The board is also in charge of supervising the University’s “physical and financial assets.” The boar is composed of four kinds of trustees: Ex officio trustees, organization trustees, alumni trustees and trustees.

To be eligible to run, students must submit a petition that can be obtained in the SA office, located near the computer cluster in the Hildegarde and J. Myer Schine Student Center. Petitions require 25 undergraduate signatures, a signature from the student’s undergraduate office, a signature from the Office of Judicial Affairs and a letter of intent. Any undergraduate student at Syracuse University and the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry is eligible to run for this position. The term is from May 1, 2009, to April 30, 2010.

The Student Association representatives exist to serve and advocate on behalf of the students.
