STYLE.COM fashion director Candy Pratts Price to speak at SU’s Newhouse School April 6March 31, 2009Wendy S. Loughlinwsloughl@syr.edu

Candy Pratts Price, executive fashion director of STYLE.COM, will speak at Syracuse University’s Newhouse School on Monday, April 6, at 2 p.m. in the Joyce Hergenhan Auditorium in Newhouse 3. She will discuss her career path, the future of fashion media and the fashion world. Her talk is sponsored by the SU chapter of Ed2010, a national magazine networking group that brings together aspiring magazine editors. The event is free and open to the public. Parking is available in SU pay lots.

Hailed by Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour as “the queen of the Internet,” Price was at the forefront of fashion’s move into the digital world when she joined STYLE.COM, the online home of Vogue and W magazines, in 2001.

She previously spent eight years as fashion director of accessories with Vogue; fashion director with Harper’s Bazaar; and vice president and creative director at Ralph Lauren. She began her career designing award-winning window displays for Bloomingdale’s.

She recently was honored with the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s prestigious Eugenia Sheppard Award, which is given to “a writer, photographer or editor who has used his or her craft to further the profession of fashion reporting and coverage, or to a creative director, fashion editor, stylist or artist whose exceptional creativity has shaped fashion visually.”

For more information about the event, contact Lindsay Silberman at lesilber@syr.edu.
