Beginning March 25, the Syracuse University Sport Management Club, in collaboration with Steiner Sports Memorabilia, will hold an online auction of more than 25 premium items at http://www.auction.steinersports.com. The online auction runs through April 3. Visitors to the main Steiner site should look for graphics directing them to the online auction.

The online auction precedes the fourth annual Charity Sports Auction, presented by the SU Sport Management Club, on Thursday, April 2, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. Proceeds from the online auction and the charity event will benefit the Golisano Children’s Hospital at Upstate and the club. For more information, visit http://www.sucharitysportsauction.com.

The online auction will offer a wide range of sports memorabilia, including a basketball autographed by Carmelo Anthony, a NASCAR fire suit autographed by Scott Riggs, a baseball autographed by Ted Williams and a football autographed by Donovan McNabb.

Tickets to sporting events will also be up for bid in the online auction, including four premium tickets to a New York Yankees home game, four box seats to a New York Mets vs. Florida Marlins game, and two tickets to a private box for either a football or basketball game at SU.

The online auction will also feature once-in-a-lifetime experiences, including five luxurious nights at Mauna Kea Beach Hotel Resort in Hawaii, two tickets for this year’s 2009 Emmy Awards, and “A Day in the Booth” with Carrier Dome public address announcer Michael Veley, director and chair of SU’s Department of Sport Management.

The fourth annual Charity Sports Auction on April 2 also includes the presentation of the Perseverance in Sport Award to 8-year-old Adam Bender of Kentucky and the Jreck Subs Distinguished Lecture, delivered by former MLB and U.S. Olympic pitcher Jim Abbott. The lecture and award presentation begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be followed by a silent auction from 7:30-9:30 p.m. The award presentation, lecture and auction are open to the public.

The April 2 silent auction at the Carrier Dome features nearly 400 items, including sports memorabilia from professional and collegiate sports teams and players, as well as non- sports-related items such as jewelry, electronics and restaurant gift certificates.

The distinguished lecture and charity sports auction are open to the public. Tickets-$10 for adults and $5 for all students and children 18 years of age and younger-are available at the Dome Box Office or by calling 1-888-DOMETIX. Free parking will be available in the lots west of the Carrier Dome. Gates A, B, C and E will open at 5:30 p.m. Abbott will speak at 6:30 p.m., and the silent auction begins at 7:30 p.m.

For more information about the auction, including regular updates of added auction items, visit http://www.sucharitysportsauction.com. More information is also available by contacting the Department of Sport Management at (315) 443-9816 or sucharitysportsauction@gmail.com.

The SU Sport Management Club is a student-run organization of the Department of Sport Management in the College of Human Ecology. Since its founding in 2005, the club has grown to nearly 100 members and has raised more than $50,000 for local charities such as the Syracuse Boys and Girls Club and the American Diabetes Association of Central New York.
