More than 140 employers to be on campus for recruiting at Oct. 7 Fall Career FairSeptember 22, 2008SU News ServicesSUnews@syr.edu

The Syracuse University Career Services Network will hold its annual Career Fair at the Carrier Dome on Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 1:30-6 p.m. Representatives from more than 140 employers have registered to be present at the Career Fair, a number that is expected to increase as the event approaches. Macy’s Inc. is this year’s featured sponsor, with supporting sponsorship provided by JPMorgan Chase, KPMG, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Aetna and International Paper.

The career fair is an opportunity for SU students, alumni and Syracuse community members to explore full-time and internship opportunities by networking with a diverse group of employers. This year, some of the companies attending include Abercrombie & Fitch; Accenture; AT&T; Alarm.com; Chipotle Mexican Grill; DEA; Diageo; General Electric; JPMorgan Chase; Kohl’s; Lockheed Martin; Macy’s Inc.; Microsoft; Morgan Stanley; Bank of New York Mellon; PricewaterhouseCoopers; Sears Holdings Co.; Target Corp.n; UPS; Wall Street Journal; Teach for America; and The Walt Disney Co.

Students of all majors and all years are encouraged to attend the career fair. Employers are seeking to fill a variety of positions. “Companies are multifaceted organizations that seek employees from a wide range of backgrounds and with a variety of skill sets,” says Jennifer Walters, associate director of SU’s Center for Career Services. “One never knows where opportunity may lie.”

In addition to plentiful opportunities in technology, engineering and business, a number of employers are seeking communications and liberal arts students. For a complete list of employers attending the Career Fair and positions being recruited, visit Orangelink through the Center for Career Services website: http://careerservices.syr.edu.

The Center for Career Services will be offering a seminar called “How to Succeed at Career Fair” in Room 228-B of the Hildegarde and J. Myer Schine Student Center. The seminar will be offered on Thursday, Oct. 2, at 2 p.m. and Monday, Oct. 6, at 4 p.m.

For more information on the Career Fair and other services offered by the Center for Career Services, contact Debi Walker at (315) 443-3616 or visit Suite 235 of the Schine Student Center.
