The Center for Health and Behavior (CHB) at Syracuse University has announced its Fall 2008 Seminar Series. The newly launched lecture series is part of the CHB’s efforts to promote health and behavior research on the SU campus and to strengthen collaborations on campus and within the community.

“We have an exciting lineup of speakers for the fall semester who represent a diverse range of disciplines and perspectives on important public health issues,” says Michael Carey, CHB director and Dean’s Professor of the Sciences in the Department of Psychology in The College of Arts and Sciences.

The series is free and open to SU students, faculty and staff, as well as community partners and members of the general public. Talks during the Fall 2008 semester will take place the first and third Friday of each month, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the Allport Room (Room 530C) of Huntington Hall. Paid parking is available in SU pay lots.

The CHB is a University-wide center that facilitates and encourages research on the behavioral and psychosocial aspects of health, including topics such as the health effects of aging, alcohol use, arthritis, asthma, diabetes, heart disease, HIV, smoking and stress. Scientists in the center often develop and evaluate programs to promote health in children, adolescents, college students, adults and families. Research-in laboratories, hospitals, schools and community-based agencies and in collaboration with colleagues in the United States and abroad-is supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health and public and private sponsors.
