Syracuse University Library hosts Science & Engineering Information Fair Oct. 2September 14, 2007Pamela McLaughlinpwmclaug@syr.edu

Syracuse University Library will host the Science & Engineering Information Fair: A Showcase of Online Research Tools on Tuesday, Oct. 2, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Science and Technology Library, located on the first floor of the Carnegie Building. The fair will feature demonstrations, refreshments and giveaways, and help visitors discover desktop access to the latest in online research tools and services brought offered by the Syracuse University Library. Sponsoring vendors have provided a variety of prizes, including an MP3 player pre-loaded with e-books from Books24x7, an iPod Shuffle and a $100 Amazon gift card. Science and engineering librarians will also be available to answer questions.

Representatives from the following vendors will provide demonstrations of online books, journals, databases, handbooks and encyclopedias: Books24X7; Cambridge Scientific Abstracts; Engineering Village II-Compendex, INSPEC, NTIS; IEEE; Knovel Library; ProQuest; ScienceDirect; Springer/Kluwer; and Web of Knowledge (Science Citation Index).

Additionally, handouts, user guides and brochures will be available from the American Chemical Society; the American Physical Society; Annual Reviews; BioOne; Computing Reviews; the Institute of Physics Publishing; JSTOR; Nature Publishing; RefWorks; Science; SciFinder Scholar; and the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics.
