Henderson to speak on green building simulation software during Aug. 9 research and technology forumAugust 07, 2007SU News ServicesSUnews@syr.edu

Hugh Henderson, founding principal of Cazenovia, N.Y.-based CDH Energy Corp., will speak Thursday, Aug. 9, from 3-5 p.m. at the Genesee Grande Hotel in Syracuse as part of the Research & Technology Forums series sponsored by the Syracuse Center of Excellence in Environmental and Energy Systems’ Office for Industry Collaboration.

Henderson will speak on “Building Simulation for Green Building Design and Technology Evaluations.” Attendance at the presentation is worth 0.1 CEUs for professional engineers.

“Hour-by-hour building simulation software has been available for nearly 30 years, and refined user interfaces make these tools more accessible” says Henderson. “In the last few years, interest in green building design and the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) process has greatly expanded the use of energy simulation tools in building design. My presentation will describe what building simulation tools are available, provide a brief description of how they work, and demonstrate how they can be used in building design to assess the technical and economic potential of new building technologies and to understand how and where energy is consumed in buildings.”

For more information, and to R.S.V.P. (encouraged if you will attend to receive CEU credit), contact Ana Fernandez at the Syracuse CoE OIC at (315) 443-9747 or e-mailafernandez@syracusecoe.org.
