Office of Orientation and Off-Campus Programs to open for businessJune 26, 2007SU News ServicesSUnews@syr.edu

The Office of Orientation and Off-Campus Programs (OOCP) will officially open on Thursday, June 28. OOCP, a principal unit of the Division of Student Affairs, is the result of the recent merger between the Office of Off-Campus Student Services and the Office of Orientation and Transitions Services.

The combined unit will welcome new students on their arrival and orient them to the University and broader community. It will prepare students for successful transitions in the first year and beyond; help them become members of an evolving local community; and support them throughout their time as student citizens of Syracuse. Its first major initiative will be the coordination of Syracuse Welcome 2007, the University?s signature, award-winning orientation program for new students. Staff from the two predecessor offices and academic and adminstrative units across the University have been working closely together since March, when the merger was announced. More details on the transition can be found online at http://sunews.syr.edu/story_details.cfm?id=3988.

Staff are relocating to new offices this week and will have limited access to telephone and e-mail through June 28. After that date, the Office of Orientation and Off-Campus Programs can be reached at:
