Whitman professor publishes seminal book on innovationMay 07, 2007Amy Schmitzaemehrin@syr.edu

David Wilemon, the Earl and Josephine Snyder Professor of Innovation in the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University, has published a comprehensive collection of research on advances in innovation over the 20th and 21st centuries. Titled “The Strategy of Managing Innovation and Technology,” the anthology provides the knowledge and tools to understand and manage innovation in both business and non-business settings. The book is co-authored by Murray Millson ’88 M.B.A., ’93 Ph.D., associate professor of marketing in the California State University-Monterey State School of Business and published by Prentice Hall.

“Business is increasingly fast-paced and technologically advanced,” says Wilemon. “This book studies innovation and technological progress and offers in-depth insight into many of the areas that influence and are influenced by the innovation process. It is clear that companies that don’t innovate cannot be market leaders and are destined to be poor performers.”

“The Strategy of Managing Innovation and Technology” is available at http://vig.prenhall.com/catalog/…0,1144,0132303833,00.html.

Wilemon was recently cited as one of the most active researchers in the field of innovation and technology management in an article in R&D Management (Vol. 36, No. 2). Among the 9,335 researchers who contributed articles in the 49-year period covered by the study, Wilemon was one of only 20 authors to have published 20 or more papers in leading journals.
