Fred Wesley, legendary trombonist and music director for James Brown and a veteran of the Count Basie Orchestra, made his Syracuse solo debut on March 30. That afternoon, he gave a lecture titled “My Life in the Music Business,” followed by a standing-room-only performance at Funk ‘n Waffles, off Marshall Street.
