Principal of Servo architectural research and design collaborative to lecture at SU School of Architecture March 1February 16, 2006Jaime Winne Alvarezjlwinne@syr.edu

David Erdman, a principal of Servo architectural research and design collaborative, will lecture at the Syracuse University School of Architecture March 1 at 4:30 p.m. in the main auditorium of the school’s home, The Warehouse, 350 W. Fayette St. His lecture, “network in_formation,” is free and open to the public. For information on parking at The Warehouse, call (315) 443-8238.

Erdman is one of four founding members of Servo, an architectural research and design collaborative established in 1999 with a focus on exploring the evolving relationship between architecture and technology. He studied architecture at The Ohio State University and completed graduate work at Columbia University. He has worked for the design firms of Stanley Saitowitz, Stan Allen Architect and Greg Lynn Form.

Erdman has taught architecture at UCLA for five years, teaching design studios in the core and advanced topics curriculum and conducting technology seminars focused on the development of new techniques in architectural design. Erdman coordinates his students’ work in exhibitions internationally, including the Florence Festival for Architecture in Video and the Gray, Green and Brown Competition at the Museum of Contemporary Art. He recently received the Charles Moore Traveling Fellowship for his option studio, in which 14 students studied minimal surface geometries in several mosques in Istanbul, Turkey.
