Herz ’85 to deliver campus lecture Nov. 9November 01, 2005Sara Millersemortim@syr.edu

Jocelyn Greenky Herz ’85, author of “The Big Sisters Guide to the Working World,” (Fireside, 2005) will speak Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m., in Rooms 304 B and C of the Hildegarde and J. Myer Schine Student Center. Herz’s appearance is part of the Diversity Business Summit Real Talk Conversation Circles series, which is a new program this year featuring interactive conversations between students and employers that revolve around topics of diversity in the workplace and include a lively exchange of information between the audience and panelists.

The hour-long facilitated conversation will be followed by a networking reception where participants will have an opportunity to continue conversation in a more informal manner. The focus of this conversation circle is gender, and Herz will offer insights and practical advice on taking charge of one’s professional destiny and moving through one’s professional life successfully.

Herz has enjoyed a successful 20-year career as a media consultant and writer that has spanned stops at Philip Morris, Wenner Media (Rolling Stone Magazine, US and Men’s Journal) and Hachette Filipacchi (Elle, Premier, George, Car and Driver, Road & Track, Woman’s Day and others).

In 2000, Herz launched Sider Road Media, a consulting firm that assists international entertainment companies in all aspects of growth including business development, marketing and broadcast production. Clients include Colin Cowie Lifestyle, HBO, Sigmax Entertainment, Burnham Securties and Publicis Advertising. Herz has also appeared as an on-air host for the Metro Channel and has served as a contributing writer for Hampton and Gotham Magazines.

Herz received a bachelor’s degree in speech communication from the College of Visual and Performing Arts.

Real Talk Conversation Circles are sponsored by CIGNA, SU’s Center for Career Services, the Career Services Network, the Office of Multicultural Affairs, Hendricks Chapel, LGBT Resource Center, CSTEP, the Slutzker Center for International Services and the Office of Disability Services.

Paid parking is available at the University Avenue Garage.
