Syracuse Technology Roundtable on Sept. 27 will focus on how new wireless data services can benefit businessesSeptember 20, 2005Kelly Homan Rodoskikahoman@syr.edu

Syracuse University’s CASE Center and the Syracuse Technology Garden will hold the next Syracuse Technology Roundtable, “Cutting the Cord: The Latest Wireless Technology Options to Boost Your Business,” on Sept. 27.

The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. in Room 1-218 of SU’s Center for Science and Technology. Registration is $10 per person, and students are free with I.D. Parking arrangements will be made at the time of registration. To register, call JoAnn Fredericks at the CASE Center at (315) 443-1060,e-mail jmfreder@syr.edu, or register online at http://case.syr.edu.

As the cost of doing business continues to rise, many companies are looking for ways to cut expenses. New wireless data services now available through wireless phones are helping companies cut drive time and mitigate the impact of rising fuel prices. New data applications can serve businesses in a number of different ways that can reduce costs and improve customer satisfaction. The session is aimed at both companies looking to impact the bottom line and individuals interested in the underlying technology.

The speaker will be James Lauro, a data engineer with Nextel Partners. Lauro has 18 years of extensive wireless technology, data engineering and product development experience. His broad industry background has included positions with Cingular Wireless, Sprint PCS, Handsignal Inc., Air 2 Web, Centennial Wireless and NYNEX.

The Syracuse Technology Roundtable is a collaboration between the CASE Center of SU and the Syracuse Technology Garden. It offers access to the best resources of academe and industry, both regional and national. The roundtable provides programming and networking opportunities to anyone interested in the growth and development of the Central New York Technology economy.
