College of Human Services and Health Professions sponsors annual Career FairFebruary 24, 2003Wendy S. Loughlinwsloughl@syr.edu

All SU students and alumni are invited to the College of Human Services and Health Professions (HSHP) Career Fair Feb. 26 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Slocum Hall Rotunda. The fair will feature representatives from 40 health and human service agencies and organizations from the local and regional communities.

Students are invited to bring their resumes and speak informally with employers, many of whom will be SU alumni.

Felicia Otero Haskins, assistant director of career and professional development and organizer of the event, stresses that the fair is a campus-wide event. “There will be opportunities for students in psychology, education, sociology, the health professions, arts and sciences, and even information studies and technology-as well as for students in HSHP,” she says.

Haskins also encourages underclassmen to attend the event. “The fair is not only a tool to help upperclassmen and alumni find jobs, but also a place where younger students can gather valuable information that will help them later on,” she says.

Haskins says the fair will help students to gain a general knowledge about various professions. “They will be able to speak informally with employers and learn more about the typical responsibilities of a given job,” she says.

Employers who will be represented at this year’s fair include: Crouse Hospital, Dunbar Association, Elmcrest Children’s Center, Mohawk Valley Family Services, New York Presbyterian Hospital, KidsPeace, Rape Crisis Center, Rosewood Heights, Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and Unity Health System, among others.

For more information about the College of Human Services and Health Professions Career Fair, contact Felicia Otero Haskins at 443-3296 or fohaskin@syr.edu.
